If you think of using the same products for skin care that you are using in summer it is not a good idea. The products you are using in the hot days of summer months may not work for your skin during the winter season. You need to move on with a heavy cream-based moisturizer. Say goodbye to the lotion and gel that you are using in the summer. This will be very helpful for skin prevention, soothing of skin, and preventing irritation.

Eat Healthy Food

During winter it is very important to maintain a healthy diet. Make sure you have used enough water to maintain water content and boost sebum production in your body. Try to use foods having enough amount of vitamins E, A, and C. This will very helpful for maintaining good skin health in winter.

Use a Humidifier

If you want to keep yourself cool and comfortable in the coming winters wear loose clothes. This is because dry skin in winter can be more irritated and itchy. So to combat this problem wear loose clothes to avoid feeling uncomfortable.

Don’ts for winters

Don’t Over-Wash Your Face

Washing your face again and again in winter is contradictory because your face looks dehydrated. Try to wash your face twice a day. On the other hand, if you over-wash your face then you feel dryness in your skin.

 Don’t Bathe In Hot Water for Too Long

Bathing in a hot shower for too long can remove essential oils from your skin and leave it dry. After taking a hot bath your skin looks dehydrated and dry. Most doctors advise to take bath with normal water and recommended to bring the temperature below 110 degrees. It is recommended to bring the temperature low if your skin turns after taking a hot water bath.

 Avoid Allergens

Don’t use products having irritants and harsh chemicals that trigger flare-ups. These products can be harmful in winter and make your skin complexion dull. Try to avoid using products with harsh soaps, and sulfates in them.

If you don’t take proper care you can have the following skin issues,

Why Does My Skin Get Dry During Winter?

Our skin has a natural tendency to attract moisture from the environment and keep itself hydrated. As we all know very well that in winter months humidity level is low. That’s why our skin is not maintained in winter and looks dry.

Extra use of harsh soaps and hot water can make our skin eradicated our skin’s protective barrier. Using some oils can be helpful to prevent water loss in the skin. That’s why these oils are very essential for our skin. Our skin loses its essential oils and moisture if this skin barrier breaks.

What To Look For In A Moisturizer During The Dry Winter Months?

Heavy Base

Using a heavy cream-based moisturizer can prevent our skin from dryness. This will be very helpful for the skin and can remove irritation. To keep your skin dryness free in winter use moisturizer having antioxidants and heavy emollient. All this process can help to relieve dry skin better.

SPF

We might notice the sun’s condition in winter on one day sunrise with its full energy and on another day sun is down. During the cold winter season, we tend to look out for the sun to keep ourselves warm. The hot rays of the sun can cause damaged skin in winter and you even not feel it. We advised using moisturizer or lotion having SPF

 Ceramides

Ceramides are useful for skin protection and also prevent moistening losing. Ceramides form a protective layer on the surface of your skin and prevent your skin from environmental aggressors from penetrating through it.

 Antioxidants

Antioxidants can be helpful for skin soothing and also prevent your skin from early aging. Antioxidants can repair your skin itself during winter. Vitamin C is an essential antioxidant for the skin because it can stimulate collagen production which is responsible for youthful skin
