PTI chief and ex-federal minister of Maritime Affairs Ali Zaidi has declared that his party will present a petition to the Sindh High Court against the delay of the second phase of the local governance (LG) election in Sindh province.
The day before in the day, it was announced that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) delayed the second phase of the Sindh LG elections and by-election in NA-245. As per a press statement published by the ECP an ECP gathering was held in the presence of Chief Election Commission (CEC) Sikander Sultan Raja in the chair. It was decided that the second stage of the local body elections be delayed at the request of Sindh's chief secretary. Sindh chief secretary due to the anticipated new season of rain in Sindh.
The second round of Sindh LG elections will now take place on August 28.
In a rally held during a rally in Hyderabad, Zaidi condemned the ECP for postponing local body elections for the province.
"The ECP was already controversial but now it has become even more so," the doctor said.
In his own words, Former Sindh Governor Imran Ismail stated that the delay in local elections, as well as by-polls for NA-245, will be "a sign of the defeat of PPP and MQM".
In the meantime, the PTI's Khurrum Sherzaman attending a press conference in Karachi demanded the resignation of Karachi's commissioner for elections and claimed"the ECP is "failed" to conduct transparent elections.
